Tasia's music reflection #22

Thursday, 21 October, 2010

Today in music theory, Mr. John asked us to compose our own song, and he also told us to make it 16 bars. After we were done composing it, he checked our work.

Today in Music Instrument, Mr. Herry made sure that our composition sounds right, he also gave us the chords that would suit the notes. The next thing I'm going to do is to practice the composition with the chords.

Today in music theory, Mr. John explained to us that we had to be done with the booklet by Tuesday. He asked Mr. Harry to write down all the necessary things for the booklet on the board. We needed a 10-20 paged booklet. It needs to contain introduction, history and e.t.c., Famous composers/famous songs, Pics of traditional instruments, and biography. The booklet needs to have spiral binding and it also needs to have a nice design.

Today in music theory, Mr. John gave us our scores for the written test. I thought i would get a pretty bad one because i didn't really study for it, but my score turned out pretty good. I got 7.7/8, After he gave us our scores, we did the singing assessment. The singing assessment was supposed to be individual, but Mr. John decided that it would be partners instead of individual. I chose to sing the Chinese song with Dini. After everyone was already done with their assessment, Mr.John gave us our scores.

Today in music theory we checked our written tests, but we didn't check ours, we checked our friends. After we were done checking the written test, we practiced the songs that we are going to sing for the next assessment. The options of the songs were Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Indian. We practiced all 4 of the songs.

Today we did the written test, for me it was kind of hard because of the inversions... but other than that, I think I did pretty good. After we did the written test, we practiced a Chinese song for another assessment. First, Mr. Harry showed us how to sing it and also told us the tune. Then the next thing we did was practice singing it altogether. It was kind of hard because we had to sing it in Chinese and then we have to sing it again but in the English version.

Today in Music Instrument I had to copy down 3 types of pentatonic scales. I knew what to write because Mr. Herry showed us on the board. The next thing I'm going to do is to learn the pentatonic scales.
